Photo of the Day: Mystérieuse
This is my new favorite flower, not to take the place of my love of peonies and chrysanthemums of course. It's just so vibrant and lush. The blossoms are HUGE and the trees end up looking like they're covered in big, pink butterflies. But I have no idea what it is.
Anyone want to enlighten me?

It looks like a saucer magnolia or tulip tree. They are gorgeous.
@Kristen hrm. I wonder which. <3
Yea, I think this is a saucer magnolia. There are different kinds of magnolias all over town. Some are deciduous like these and some are evergreen with dark green glossy leaves. But they all have ridiculous flowers.
Great picture!!
We had a similar tree in our backyard growing up, but the bark was white.
I LOVE those flowers - they're so velvety.
Holy, beautiful. You are such a talented photographer!
Magnolia. Always reminds me of my grandmother's house. :)
thanks you guys! you're too sweet. make me all blushy with your compliments. seems the consensus is Saucer Magnolia. yay! <3
Loving the flower photos, makes me feel all springy.
...and makes me sound a little gay. oopppsss!
