My First Giveaway, otherwise entitled: I'm a Big Kid Now!

Guess what?

No guess again.

Nope. Try again.

Nope. Guess again.

Give up?

Okay I'll tell you!

You are so lucky, my kiddos, because yours truly is participating in a giveaway! I know I gave you a little hint about this on Monday, but it is not officially ON!

When Alex from Late Enough asked me to make her a custom order, I jumped on it. But then it took me forever to find the right pieces and I wanted it to be just right.

THEN she told me she'd decided to review it on the new website This Blogger Makes Fun of Stuff and wondered if maybe we could do a giveaway.

Well my first thought was hell yes! And my second was oh my crap what if she hates it?

Well I put my heart and soul on the line anyway and turns out? She didn't hate it! Hoorah!

So get your skinny fannies over there and read Alex's super sweet review and get in on the giveaway.

Only way you'll ever get a freebie from me unless you're family and it's your birthday or something. HAH! Just kidding.

Okay, not kidding, but it's because I need your money. Now don't you feel badly?

Reminders:
  • Don't forget to vote for your fave 3 photos in this month's Raw Photos Contest! Voting closes on Saturday.
  • Don't forget to vote for me, your very favorite blogger, for a Boomerang Award! You don't even need to sign in to vote.

The Saga of Jeté: Chapter 5

When we last discussed, I think I told you that Jeté's oncologist was closing her practice but was hopeful that the course of treatment we chose was working.

Té saw the new oncologist Wednesday, who is nothing like the old one in way of personality. I'm sure she's lovely but it's taking some getting used to. She was not happy with Jeté's progress at all and wanted me to start a different drug for Té's chemo.

She also wants to operate much sooner and get her a CT scan, which means I'm looking at $4000 or so much sooner than I'd expected.

At first, I was really freaking out. Every visit seems to bring a new stress, new information to process. What I'd love is if we could decide on a course of treatment and do it. That way I can barrel though and keep strong for my furbaby.

But this just isn't the way with veterinary oncology, I guess. It's all one day and a time and changeable. I am really struggling with that, I have to admit. It's not great for a control freak such as myself to be thrown for a new loop every five minutes. But such is life.

And it does not help that Té is getting shuffled around with new vets. It's no one's fault, but it's a challenge to be sure.

So I emailed the old oncologist, because she sweetly told me to anytime I needed her opinion, and she concurs with the new gal that if the tumor isn't shrinking enough, we should try a new drug. This course of chemo is the same price, so that's a bonus to be sure.

She also told me that if I can't afford the CT or surgery to not feel badly, that I'm still a good person and clearly love my cat. That was so nice to hear, I can't tell you how much. I wrapped that information around me and let it warm my heart.

It doesn't mean I won't try to raise the funds still but the burden of guilt has been weighing me heavily. I'm responsible for this furbaby's life and many vets have looked at me like it's a given that I would shell out my soul to do so. I'd love to, I would, but if I can't find the money, does that make me a bad person? I sure as hell hope not.

Anyway, so I've scheduled Té's treatment for Friday morning. Please send all healing thoughts our way. I'm asking Santa for a cancer-free Jeté for Christmas. Either that or a hot vet* who can miraculously cure her and will fall madly in love with me in the process and who also wants to hike Machu Picchu, sail the Greek Isles, and have babies. All with me. Not necessarily in that order or in conjunction.

What? I girl can dream, right? Santa?

*Tumbleweed*

Anywayyyyyy.

Jeté and I are still taking donations. Thanks endlessly to everyone who has donated. They keep coming in and every one is a sweet, glowy surprise of happiness and hope. Believe me, it is.

And my Etsy shop! You all are dears and are purchasing my items faster than I can make them. There are still some fabulous goodies (earrings, rings, and pendants) there for you to purchase for yourself or for gifts. And I'm adding a bunch more today or tomorrow. All proceeds fund Jeté's care of course. The second item is free shipping and I ship everything priority. Because I love you.

Also: lots of people have asked if they can buy my photography. And the answer is: YES! Not on Etsy because the options are much more limited there, but on redbubble. I have dozens of prints available for sale in all sorts of sizes from greeting cards to canvas prints.

If you've seen a photo of mine that you love and it isn't on redbubble, please just let me know at awesomecrazylady at gmail dot com and I'll get it on there. I aim to please. Want to see more of my work? Check out my flickr.

Thanks so much for all of your support! Muahs from me and purrs from Jeté.

Random Thoughts of a Crazy Lady

 Drivers of Portland, when you are behind a bus and said bus pulls over to let passengers off, there is plenty of room for your small car to go around without ever crossing a line of any color, let alone yellow. So sack up and go around!

~~~~~~~~~~
Jete had her staples out yesterday. And she did so well! Didn't even flinch.
But she still has to wear a collar for a while because the vet originally had me put her in a baby T shirt to cover the incision. And the shirt irritated her underarm and by the time I noticed, she'd licked off all the hair there and the skin was all raw. So she has medicine for that now and has to wear a collar until it heals. Poor thing!
Aaaand, it turns out the vaccine company we thought had provided her vaccines did not. It's  a long story, but her original vet gave up his practice to work in emergency medicine and the new vet's database didn't keep the records clearly, or something. Anyway, I guess we're still trying to figure out which company it is and open a new case and ask for them to help with the cost of her treatment. Which means a longer wait to start her treatment since I cannot afford to just pay and be reimbursed. I'm looking into other methods of financing her care in the meantime.
We still see the oncologist this Saturday and I'll decide what our next steps are then.
Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far! You've helped me pay for the first oncologist visit, which is so incredibly helpful! Jete and I appreciate it immensely.
And now, everything from my etsy shop goes to fund Jete's cancer treatment so get on over and start shopping! I have pendants up now and will be adding another soon. I even think earrings will come soon too. Maybe. Perhaps. Probably.
A word on my vet: My vet is an awesomely cool, sweet lady. This is no surprise. I rarely meet a vetrinarian who isn't kind or doesn't the work.
What is weird is how shi shi nice the office is. Seriously. There's real, cushy furniture. With fancy pillows. There's a chandelier in the waiting room. The exam rooms feel like massage rooms in a day spa or a cushy therapist's office. And it's all decorated very modern-chic. The first time I went, I wasn't sure I was in the right place. If the vet techs hadn't been in scrubs, I would have had to double check.
But it's not like they act all shi shi. They're very nice and super friendly! They know me well already, call me Jete's Mom.
Every time I go, they offer me coffee or tea and I decline because I just assume it's crappy coffee or tea like you find in these kinds of businesses. I pictured a breakroom coffee pot with paper cups. But today, I had a headache (have had for 3 days actually) so I accepted and said tea sounds nice. They brought me this lovely ceramic tray with a fancy-ish mug of hot water and a large selection of teas. Seriously.
And it's not like I'm paying more for this schmancy vet's office either. I could get used to a place like that. Human doctors should start practices like that.
~~~~~~~~~~

So yeah. About that headache. My head has been a dull ache for like 3 days now and I have tried allll the homeopathic remedies and the straight up medicated route. Nothing's doing.

I realize I'm stressed, but DUDE, head, this is not helping yo!

Like, this cannot be an evolutionary advantage. When you get stressed, your head shouldn't hurt. How are you supposed to cope with stress when your brain feels like a mini freight train is rumbling inside for 3 damn days straight? This has got to be a mistake in our wiring somehow. Call Darwin. I want my money back.

Wait. What?

Whatever. If the head doesn't feel better soon, I'm going to fork out my eyeball and throw it at little children. Thaaaat should make me feel better.

I wonder why I'm not friends with my neighbors?

~~~~~~~~~~
I have a credit from Southwest airlines from back in my travel a lot days that I have to use in the next couple of months before it expires. My initial thought was that I'd just go back to California and see my family and best friends. That's the cheapest route too because I know the dears will cook for me and let me sleep on their couches.
But finding a time when they are all in So Cal in the same week is turning out to be impossible. I may go and have to miss someone. It sucks, but dude! What else can I do?
Maybe I'll say screw it and go see my bestie and my nephew in Vegas.
Or maybe I'll rob a bank and Jete and I will just head to the Bahamas. Cats like balmy beaches right?
And hunky beach guys like cat ladies right? Isn't that how Stella got her groove back? Right?
Are you picturing me on a beach wearing a mumu with a cat in my arms? Niiiice.
(this might be why I'm still single)
~~~~~~~~~~

And then there's this. Jon Hamm, I love you. Now get in my bed.

I don't even care what he's saying. I can't stop looking at his jawline. *rawr*

Exciting News!

My Etsy shop is up and running! I have 16 rings and a pair of hair clips listed thus far. But more is coming soon. I'm thinking bracelets, necklace charms, and maybe even one day... earrings.

A tab for my shop: Pushing My Buttons now permanently lives here on the blog. Just look up! See it? Ah, there 'tis. So you can always find my schtuff.

And if you have something in mind for yourself or a gift, let me know. I'll do custom orders too.

It's so exciting! So...go check it out. Tell your friends.

I have shipping for Canada and the US but if you live elsewhere, give me a holler and I'll calculate shipping for you (I'm just lazy).

Now go forth and shop! Here's everything thus far:
