I might be wrong, but I actually read this as "Anna and Jason were engaged on 27 November", as in "got engaged on 27 November", which would be correct. (It would be weird to say "we're engaged on 27 November.") But if that's what they meant, it still seems like a poor choice of words because you expect it to say "We're engaged" so it looks wrong! (Maybe in whatever country it's from, this is a common way to say it?)
