Photo of the Day: Rainy Days

Rainy Day

Today I am sick in bed so I’m sharing a shot with you I took last fall. Fall in Portland is pretty much like Spring in Portland: rainy. Only you get slightly different colors. Click here for more rainy day photos.

Photo of the Day: Shades of Wheat and Gold

slightly springy

I've decided, in what might be an all too ambitious plan, to start Photo of the Day back up over here on the blog with coordinated posts over at Double A Photography. That's the plan anyway! Enjoy! Click here for more.

Photo of the Day: Pretty Flower

I haven't done a photo of the day in a long while. In fact, I hadn't even taken new photos since the Fourth of July. I know! Who am I? Anyway, my roomie got some gorgeous lilies the other day and I was suddenly inspired to photograph again and I just went to town.

I like how soft and slightly out of focus this is. Gentle bokeh. Lovely late afternoon light. Le sigh.

Photo of the Day: Sliver of Focus

Let's play a game. Can you find the tiny part of this photo that's in focus?

Also: don't you just want to have sex in all that bokeh? Yummy.

Photo of the Day: Poppy

So it's not a red poppy, but it's purty anyhow.

In honor of Memorial Day, go check out my article at Sprocket Ink, A Poppy for My Pop.

Photo of the Day: Eyelashes

lashes

These gorgeous lashes belong to my 2 and a half year old nephew. I have two thoughts on this:

First: this shot was a freaking miracle. Kid does not sit still (and, honestly, you gotta love how cute that is. until he starts bouncing into your face.), but for a photographer? Patience was my lesson for the weekend. Patience to get the great shot. And in this case? It was waiting for him to get a little sleepy.

Second: how the hell is that fair? Look at those gorgeous lashes! Look! Kid is gonna be a lady killer. So not fair.

Photo of the Day: Golden Afternoon

Lynnette and I took a nice walk the other evening to get dinner and on the way back, the light was just absolutely delicious. How could I resist capturing the many randomly growing flowers og my neighborhood being set on fire by the setting sun?

Photo of the Day: like color etched on canvas

Took this in my yard the other day. Do I even need to describe how pretty this is? The color is so deep and defined, the details so crisp.

*sigh*

I want to put this in my hair on a balmy summer night with kisses and kismet thick in the air.

Photo of the Day: Fabric

We ate lunch at a local park yesterday and they had these absolutely lucious bright, red roses. Red is SO hard to capture and I even reduced the color saturation a bit. But isn't this just gorgeous? I love the many folds of red, like fabric.

Photo of the Day: Petticoat

So I realize I take tons of photos of my roses, but it's because they're just so damn photogenic, even from below. And this one's undergarments are especially lovely. Think this counts as an up the skirt shot? Shhh! Don't tell. It'll run my rep.

Photo of the Day: No One Nose

I didn't have a great day today. Was once again, as usual, a complete idiot and fuckup and I should really be freelance already so I stop causing harm to others. And then I swam a good 20 laps after work (and I swam hard), but still didn't feel better. Plus I found a suspicious mole this morning and have convinced myself I have skin cancer and am about to lose my benefits so will die a painful death in a homeless shelter (I might be slightly melodramatic).

But you know what does make me feel a little better? This absolutely scrumptious photo of my Hobbes' nose. Don't you want to rub your face in the soft, white fur? I could smear frosting on that pink nose and eat it all up.

Photo of the Day: Tipped Off

Another shot from last Saturday. I really am in love with this shot. Love the light saturation, love the bokeh, love the texture. Love it all. And silhouettes of palm trees are so part of what I will miss about Southern California when I leave.

Photo of the Day: Profile of a Rose

One of the absolutely, insanely gawgeous roses at The Farm. This one was particularly spectacular and I took like 10 shots of it. Don't you love the shades of pink and orange blending so softly? *sigh* I may become a rose lover after all.

Photo of the Day: Drop Me

I love watering my roses at the end of the day. They look absolutely gorgeous glistening with water, the late afternoon light lending itself to me perfectly. It's funny, I never cared for roses much before, but I'll certainly miss my rose bushes when I move. Plump pink beauties brightening my days.

Photo of the Day: Star

Took this last weekend as I sat in my little front yard reading in the warm, spring sun. This is a flower on my pomegranate tree. This tree flowers beautifully and I love that the flower looks like a fruit arrangement for a garden party. And the tree does bear fruit, but never ripe enough to eat. Any master gardeners out there know how to fix that? Eh fuck it. I'm moving in a couple months anyway.
